Then and Now Whose Gallery is it Anyway

Then & Now | Whose Gallery is it Anyway opened at Edinburgh Printmakers on Thursday the 19th April. Running until the end of June this exhibition is open to everyone who would like to take part. Visitors are asked to curate the show themselves, as they see fit. Anyone is welcome to bring along their own artwork and hang it and remove artwork. I put in a piece on the opening night but it’s probably been removed by now!

Next Exhibition

I’ll be exhibiting framed prints with 14 other Edinburgh printmakers in September. Info in image above. Later in the year I will have a wall of prints at Brick Lane Gallery in London. Details later.

Another market

I’ll be selling my prints, cards and small paintings at the Christmas market at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh on 3 December.

A new print of the Banana flats in Leith

At the Beach

My exhibition at Dungeness in Kent was a great success. Lots of visitors (and sales!). Plus I met some of my Instagram followers for the first time. Here’s a view through the window with two of my paintings on found wood. Top one sold.

My exhibition with husband Ron has now opened for three days at Dungeness Open Studios in Kent. Here’s a photo of the beach hut we’re using to show our work which is inspired by our visits to Dungeness for the past 8 years.

A different kind of Christmas Market

Lynda Wilson Artist at Makeshift, Out of the Blue Drill Hall

The Christmas market at Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Edinburgh was a bit of an experiment where the makers just dropped off their sales items for the staff to display and sell on their behalf. Visitors had to book a slot in advance so it wasn’t certain that enough people would sign up to make it worthwhile. In fact it was a sell out!

The yellow print top left went off to a new home and lots of other pieces were sold. A great idea by Out of the Blue staff for negotiating the current situation.

Pentland Hills Coronavirus Lockdown Monoprint Lynda Wilson 2020

Upright Gallery Edinburgh – Coming Up for Air

31st to 21st August 2020

Lynda built a new studio in the garden earlier this year and has been using it to the full during the Covid-19 lockdown, mostly producing prints and artist books from reference sketches she made during past outings to Hastings and Dungeness or on her daily walks in the nearby Pentland Hills to the south of the city.

The lockdown period brought new printing experiments. A small press and a small screen were used to make mono prints, linoprints plus screenprints using paper stencils rather than photographic methods as there was no access to sophisticated equipment.

Artists’ books are folded sketches made in the hills, folded prints or books made online. The paintings include an element of print. The main subject matters are the coast and the hills.
