Three Dungeness Monotypes

Here are three more monotypes made at a recent class. Please go to the shop page for details and prices.

New Dungeness monotypes

I’ve recently made some new monotypes at a master class by Kittie Jones artist at Edinburgh Printmakers. They’re based on my Dungeness sketchbooks. This is a finished one. The others need some additional trace monotype before I publish them.

Fish Shacks

Another oil painting added to my shop. Fish Shacks. Oil on mdf board, unframed. 40cm high x 50cm wide. £100. Free delivery Edinburgh.

Spring Painting Sale

I’ve put several paintings on the shop page, many reduced from the original price. Take a look!

At the Beach

My exhibition at Dungeness in Kent was a great success. Lots of visitors (and sales!). Plus I met some of my Instagram followers for the first time. Here’s a view through the window with two of my paintings on found wood. Top one sold.

My exhibition with husband Ron has now opened for three days at Dungeness Open Studios in Kent. Here’s a photo of the beach hut we’re using to show our work which is inspired by our visits to Dungeness for the past 8 years.

Shingle Shacks

This monoprint was made on a small Xcut Xpress press during the lockdown for Covid 19 in April 2020.. Lynda’s sketchbook was used for source material for this print of small houses on the shingle in Dungeness, Kent.

Pentland Hills Coronavirus Lockdown Monoprint Lynda Wilson 2020

Upright Gallery Edinburgh – Coming Up for Air

31st to 21st August 2020

Lynda built a new studio in the garden earlier this year and has been using it to the full during the Covid-19 lockdown, mostly producing prints and artist books from reference sketches she made during past outings to Hastings and Dungeness or on her daily walks in the nearby Pentland Hills to the south of the city.

The lockdown period brought new printing experiments. A small press and a small screen were used to make mono prints, linoprints plus screenprints using paper stencils rather than photographic methods as there was no access to sophisticated equipment.

Artists’ books are folded sketches made in the hills, folded prints or books made online. The paintings include an element of print. The main subject matters are the coast and the hills.

Postcard Prints

Old postcards were used for these screen prints. For the Portobello prints, the original colours were changed to better reflect the colours found at the seaside. The Dungeness postcard shows the original colours of the old lighthouse – it is now painted all black and the new lighthouse has taken over the black and white stripes.

Screenprints using old postcards imagery.

1. The Pier Portobello edition of 12 £45

2. The Beach Portobello edition of 10 £45

3. Dungeness Lighthouse edition of 8 £45
